Flooding hit Bampton again May 16th 1932. The picture shows some people being given a piggy-back through the floods and two people being pulled in a pram.
Before our National Health System came into being in July 1948, people could pay a little each week into a club or Friendly Society and if they should find themselves unable to work through illness or accident
This view along Church View looking north towards St Mary's shows interesting feature. The pram belonged to Suzy Lamb who used it to carry the bits and pieces she sold around Bampton.
This plot of land is by Cheyne Lane on left just before reaching the brook having gone down from by the butcher's shop. It was worked as allotments for a few yeas but then that all stopped.
