In 1999 there was a mass cycle ride organised to highlight the need for a cycle pathway from Bampton to The Trout Inn at Tadpole bridge on the Buckland Road. The bridge crosses the River Thames.
The last year we had a Flower Garland competition before Covid 19 put a temporary stop to it. Ariah and Paisley Neatham 2019 (with the red coat and hood) first picture with Dawn Newland and the second one with Ruth Wheeler. Third picture with the same two children plus Archie Comely and Ella Connors.
Bampton had a brass band in the very early days of the twentieth century. The picture of them playing outside the Town Hall, taken in 1908 was kindly lent to the Archive by Barbara Daw.

This dinner party gathering in the WI Hall, now called the Village Hall, was probably in the very early 1960s. Sadly, we don't know for sure why the people were gathering but it may well be to do with the British Legion.
