This was Gala Day at Tickhill in Yorkshire. Bampton Traditional Morris Men, Squire Francis Shergold were three of the dance sides invited to take part along with Yorkshire Ladies side

The Bampton Traditional Morris Dancers held their annual party in November for years and invited the Swindon Folk club members to join them.

This photograph was taken in Tickhill at Rock House when Bampton Traditional Morris Men went up to Yorkshire for a weekend of dancing. The date is probably 1995 but could be 96 or 97.
The ladies are wives and girlfriends and daughters of the dancers and Jasper, the fool is at the centre back.

Two visiting teams outside the George & Dragon; Eynsham are dancing and Abingdon Morris are waiting to dance. There are no signs outside the inn so it must be post 1994.

These two sketches were done by Alan Beers in 1990 and given to Bob West, who has kindly allowed the Archive to scan them. They are of Cyril Smith and Francis Shergold.
