A series of photographs taken by Andrew Hilditch of ordinary scenes in and around Bampton as a permanent record of how Bampton was in 1991.

Ted Dixey took a very active part in Bampton life. He was a Morris Dancer for several years as was his father. He learnt to bellring in 1943 when ringing was permitted again and rang to within a very few years of his death.

Under the guidance of Hilda Pickard, the Drama Group in Bampton put on many excellent plays and pantomimes in the WI Hall, now called the Village Hall. This entry recalls just of few of them.MirandaOn The Road

BAADF6 - The north side of the Grammar School in Church View built in 1650. Photograph taken in 1946. There was a good area of garden with it which can be seen beyond the building but most of it is now fenced off and rented by the people in Church

Most of these photographs of the Grange in the High Street were taken early in the twentieth century.The Morris dancers are seen there in the 1980s.
