The Environment Agency will spend £1.2m repairing the locks on the Thames, five in Oxfordshire plus one in Berkshire, one in Buckinghamshire and one in Surrey through the winter of 2016-2017
The 46th Donkey Derby took place in 2015. The afternoon's fun is organised by the SPAJERS (Society for The Preservation of Ancient Junketing) to raise funds to treat Bampton's senior citizens and at the same time provide fun for everyone
Robin Shuckburgh has been chairman of Bampton Community Archive for about 8 years (as at 2017) and over-seen the raising of £250,000 to repair the roof of the Old Grammar School in Church View and make the upstairs a usable space again. We are extremely fortunate in Bampton to have people with skills and energy which they are prepared to give freely for the benefit of the whole community.
Sub Officer Arthur H Beckley joined the NFS as a fireman at Bampton in 1946 and was officer in charge from 1960. I think this cutting is from a local paper approximately 1973. Arthur was awarded the BEM for his outstanding service
Dr Alan Gaydon was a churchwarden at St Mary's for several years. He photographed the church from inside to out, ground level to the roof and recorded the restoration of the top of the spire and re-guilding of the cockerel on the top.
The Fairford, Faringdon, Filkins and Burford Ploughing Match Society held their annual ploughing match at Kelmscott on September 26th 2015. These photographs show some of what was to be seen at the show.
In October 2016 a Triptych made by the Summertown United Reformed Church was lent to St Mary's. It illustrates all the books of the bible. There was no cost for this, just a request for photographs of people looking at the Triptych.
A large section of wall in Church Close fell and badly damaged at least two vehicles. The wall was eventually repaired and a new opening created where a gateway was made.
