Mr & Mrs Harry Sollis from The Swan Inn, Buckland Road

Mr & Mrs Harry Sollis owned and ran the Swan Inn in Buckland road for many years. In the last few years, Mrs Sollis ran it as a widow. Emmie Papworth, nee Bishop was a relative and adored Mrs Sollis; Emmie is seen with her in two of these pictures and her son Tom is with them in one of them. Mrs Sollis eventually sold The Swan by auction October 1st 1964; it was bought by Tim Tomlins.

Alec Wixey is the dancer in Royal Marines uniform. He caught the train from Lympstone barracks in Devon to Swindon, got a lift to Bampton, danced all day in full uniform and went back to barracks in the evening. Francis & Roy Shergold on the left, Pete Allam far right. Sitting , on the right, is Mrs. Ellis with Gary Gerhardt and Mrs Snook with Wayne. Standing on the left are Sheila Stephens and Margaret Clements (Hayes).

A copy of an Infant Welfare Card used in the 1960's supplied by Teresa Till. The Baby Clinic was held in the WI Hall once a fortnight, and the babies were weighed and checked over by Dr Bullen (Consulting Physician) and Nurse Childs, (District Nurse). The babies would have their injections. This was where the mother obtained their Formula Milk and Orange Juice, etc
