Scope and content

The contestants in the Shirt Race are at The Lamb Inn in the Market Square. This Inn was known locally as The Tree because there was a very large Ash tree in the garden.

Notice the British Railways timetable on the wall. The Bampton and Brize Norton station was about two miles out of Bampton very near Brize Norton right next to the airfield runway. The site of the old station is now a small business park.

The young lad in the front of the picture is Colin Barratt, son of Pat and Roy.
